Oerlikon PD3 description: PD3 is a welding powder designed to give enhanced deposition rates with the submerged arc process using the forward feed method of powder addition. PD3 welding powder is used in conjuction with OE-SD3 welding wire and is recommended for use with the Oerlikon basic agglomerated flux OP 121TT for even the most critical application without any sacrifice in weld metal toughness properties PD3 welding powder is a C-Mn iron powder with very low levels of impurity and residual elements. PD3 has a relatively high apparent bulk density of nominally 3300 Kg/m2 and is designed to flow freely throug the powder disenser. The chemical analysis of the PD3 powder has been designed for the use with OE-SD3 wire and OP 121 TT flux in order to produce weld metal of similar composition to that produced without the use of PD3 iron powder.
