Nihonweld NSW-316L description: Stainless steel Shielded Metal Arc Welding electrode with coating for welding 18/8/Mo stainless steels, AISI 316, 316L and 317 austenitic stainless steel. Austenitic and corrosion-resistant weld deposit of low carbon 19% Cr-12% Ni-2.8% Mo insures against intergranular carbide precipitation, good resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion by non-oxidizing acids intended applications where service temperatures do not exceed 400C. Deposition rate and efficiency (112%) are far better that most other brands in the same class. Slag is practically self-peeling. Handles easily in DC+ or AC current with minimum open-circuit voltage of 70 volts. The finished welds exhibit a slightly concave shape with a good cosmetic appearance which requires little or no post weld dressing. The electrode is ideal for both fillet and butt welding applications.
